16th Annual Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum

Marefin participated in the 16th Annual Capital Link Greek Shipping Forum, which took place on 5 February 2026 at the Athenaeum InterContinental Hotel in Athens.

The Forum is one of the most established international events for the global shipping and maritime investment community, bringing together senior executives, financiers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders. The Forum’s agenda focused on the key forces currently shaping global shipping, starting with a high-level discussion on net zero regulations and the energy transition. Industry leaders examined the regulatory landscape, decarbonisation strategies, and the commercial challenges associated with transitioning fleets while maintaining competitiveness and operational efficiency.

A keynote industry leadership roundtable followed, addressing how shipping companies are steering through market volatility, regulatory complexity, and long-term structural change. Discussions highlighted the importance of strategic decision-making, resilience, and alignment between owners, operators, and capital providers.

A central part of the Forum was dedicated to shipping finance, with separate panels covering bank lending and alternative financing solutions. Speakers discussed the evolving role of traditional banks, alongside leasing platforms, private credit, and institutional capital, as well as how capital structures are adapting to higher interest rates and changing risk appetites.

The agenda also explored technology, digitalisation, and AI, highlighting their growing role in operational efficiency, compliance, and decision-making across the maritime value chain. Afternoon sessions further examined the interaction between commerce, geopolitics, and regulation, as well as investor strategies across shipping cycles and sectors.

The Forum concluded with discussions on Greece’s strategic role as Europe’s energy and maritime gateway, underlining shipping’s importance in global trade, energy security, and transatlantic cooperation. High-level participation from government representatives reinforced the importance of public-private dialogue in addressing the industry’s long-term challenges.

Marefin’s participation reflects its continued focus on shipping finance, investment management, and structured maritime solutions, as well as its commitment to staying closely engaged with market developments and capital markets. Through active participation in leading industry forums, Marefin continues to support shipowners and investors in navigating complex market environments and pursuing long-term value creation.
